An Investment in Teacher Preparation

Imagine this region with a supply of superbly trained and highly motivated teachers whose presence in the classrooms will transform our educational system, produce a highly qualified workforce, and inspire the leaders of tomorrow.

Through this campaign, CSU has developed significant strategies and unique programs that address the acute shortage of well-qualified teachers. A special emphasis on mathematics and science education has been developed through programs on campus and at CSU’s two outstanding facilities for science and mathematics education, the Coca-Cola Space Science Center and Oxbow Meadows.

The campaign will allow us to:

  Create a Center for Excellence in Education to coordinate the work of the CSU faculty and community educational leaders, work with at-risk schools, provide mentoring for teachers and promote leadership development among educators.

  Build a Teacher Cadet program to identify and recruit future teachers

  Offer scholarships to encourage our best students to choose teaching as a profession.

  Recruit distinguished faculty in Science, Arts and Letters, and Education.

  Expand and underwrite the facilities of the Coca-Cola Space Science Center and Oxbow Meadows.
