1. What is the Cougar OneCard?

The Cougar OneCard will be the official student ID card beginning in Spring Semester 2005. It will allow you to check out books in the library, eat in the cafeteria, and attend campus events just like your current ID card, but it can also be activated as a DEBIT card tied to a free online checking account. (It is not a credit card.) You should still use your old ID until Spring Semester begins. Your new ID will not operate in the cafeteria or library until January.Return to Top

2. Why is the ID changing?

Columbus State University will no longer issue refund checks. We are outsourcing this function to Higher One, Inc., who will distribute refunds to students based on the student’s preferred method of receiving refunds. Students will have three choices of how to receive refunds:

a. Direct deposit into a free Higher One online checking account that is tied to the Cougar OneCard debit card.
b. ACH transfer to the bank of your choice.
c. A paper check mailed from Higher One to the address of your choice.

You will select your preferred method of receiving refunds during activation of your card. You will receive instructions on how to activate your card when you receive the card in the mail. The Cougar OneAccount will be the default choice shown during the online activation process. To change this preference, you must select the “Change Preference” button during step 3 of the activation.

3. How do I get my Cougar OneCard?

Your Cougar OneCard will be mailed to the mailing address on file in ISIS as of November 18th. Cards will be mailed beginning November 29th and you should have your card by December 10th. If you have not received your card by that date, please log on to www.CSUCougarOne.com and click on the “Where’s my card?” link.Return to Top

4. What else is changing?

BOOK VOUCHERS WILL NOT BE ISSUED SPRING SEMESTER. Instead, students who early register and have available credit on their account can receive their entire refund on the first day of class, according to their selected method of receiving refunds.Return to Top

5. What do I do when I get my card?

When you receive your card, you must log on to www.CSUCougarOne.com and activate your card. Activating your card lets us know that you have received your card and allows you to select your preferred method of receiving refunds. Please note that the amount of time it takes to receive your refund depends on the method you select. You must activate your card whether or not you expect to receive a refund. Again, the default preference will be the Cougar OneAccount. To change this preference, you must select the “Change Preference” button during step 3 of the activation.

6. How can I use my card?

If you chose the free Cougar One Account and have funds deposited to your account, you can use your debit card anywhere in the world that MasterCard is accepted. There will also be two Higher One ATM machines on campus where you can access your account without a fee.Return to Top

7. What do I do if I still have questions?
