Don’t tell Jamie Williams that she won’t change the world after she graduates. A political science major and former student body president at CSU, she’s got big ideas about how her generation needs to step up and seek solutions to long-running social problems. CSU students have to get out of the classroom to fully appreciate environmental issues, says biology Professor Julie Ballenger, who helps coordinate the university’s study abroad program. Through her classes, hundreds of students have seen their nature studies come to life in the Bahamas, Australia and, closer to home, at CSU’s Oxbow Meadows Environmental Learning Center .

Andrew Ginther worried a little that he would miss out on his dream of playing professional baseball if he attended CSU, one of the smaller schools recruiting the standout high school athlete from Carrollton, Ga. But Ginther, who earned a CSU bachelor’s of business administration degree in 2003, made his dream come true – and more – as the catcher on CSU’s 2002 NCAA championship baseball team.

After that once-in-a-lifetime experience and graduation, he signed with the St. Louis Cardinals and played two years of minor league baseball. When shoulder surgery sidelined him, he knew better than to worry. “I really developed a passion for business at CSU that prepared me for the business world,” he said.

Today, he’s a higher education account manager for Lanier Worldwide, Inc., serving the information technology needs of 48 colleges and universities in the Southeast. Tune in below to see how Ginther’s winning CSU experience helped prepare him for the challenges of the big-league business world.
