10 presidential candidates
interviewed; 7 invited to be semi-finalists
March 30 update
The Search and Screening Committee met March 28-29 at the Airport Hilton
in Atlanta. During that time, we engaged in 90-minute interviews with 10
candidates. Salient metrics
include: Three of the candidates were sitting presidents, six
were provosts or vice presidents for academic affairs, and one was a
dean. Four were women, and two were African American.
The committee came to a consensus to invite seven of these
individuals to become semi-finalists: two presidents, four provosts and one dean, including three
women and one African American.
Once individuals have accepted the invitation, they will be formally
considered semi-finalists, and we may release their identities and information to
the CSU community.
The committee wants to remind the CSU community that, not only are we
seeking desirable semi-finalists but we are also working to convince them that CSU would be a good step for their careers. It is critical that students,
faculty, staff, and area residents interested in CSU show up at the public
meetings to be scheduled. They should come prepared to ask insightful and
challenging questions, but they should also be engaging and demonstrate just
how bright, talented and friendly we are.
The committee will want to receive input from those who observe the
semi-finalists. We will want to know which semi-finalists the communities consider to
be acceptable as the fourth president of CSU. We will also want a list of
strengths and weaknesses perceived for every acceptable
candidate. Impressions and strength and weakness comments may be submitted
to headcougar_hunt@colstate.edu.
