> Servant Leadership
Program History
In the late 90’s, members of the CSU family (faculty, staff, and
administration) discovered a need for leadership development on campus. Also
during this time, there was a surge of interest among members of the
community led by Mr. William B. Turner, who believed that servant leadership
would present the new leadership needed to foster collaboration and growth
in Columbus.
In 1999, the leadership vision of Columbus State University
and President Frank Brown merged with the vision of Mr. Turner, and the
Servant Leadership Program was born. The need for leadership development at
the college level was combined with the leadership needs of the community,
resulting in a 4-year comprehensive program that incorporates leadership
theory, practice, experiential learning, modeling, and mentoring.
Vision
Transforming the world by empowering students and others to lead with a
lifelong commitment to service.
Mission
Through
a widely-recognized community and university collaboration, the Columbus
State University Servant Leadership Program provides students with learning
experiences that create growing, self-aware, well-balanced, and insightful
servant leaders, enriching the community and the world, while serving as a
model for others to follow.
